Welcome to Tracon

Tracon is an annual event for Japanese pop culture and roleplaying. This year, the event is from the 6th to the 8th of September. The event caters to two main interest groups:

  • Tabletop and Live-Action Role-Playing Games: Board games, card games, miniature games, and strategy games.
  • Japanese Pop Culture: Anime (Japanese animation), manga (Japanese comics), cosplay, J-rock, J-pop, and other aspects of Japanese popular culture.

Above all, Tracon is a meeting place for like-minded enthusiasts and a fun way to spend the weekend.

In addition to the day event, which is open to people of all ages, there will be an 18+ afterparty on Saturday, the 7th of September.

Event Location

Tracon is held at Tampere Hall, within walking distance from both the Tampere train and bus stations. The address is Yliopistonkatu 55. Tampere Hall activities and programs can be attended only with an entrance ticket.

Tracon extends to the nearby Sorsapuisto Park. Entry to the park area is free, allowing everyone interested to enjoy the park’s activities.

The afterparty is at Tullikamari, located about 500 meters from Tampere Hall near the train station.

Opening Hours

Tracon is open to visitors as follows:

  • Friday, Sep 6: 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Saturday, Sep 7: 9:30 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Sunday, Sep 8: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

The evening party at Tullikamari’s Pakkahuone and Klubi will take place on Saturday from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM.

Tickets

Tickets will be exchanged to wristbands in Sorsapuisto during the following hours:

  • Friday, September 6th: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Saturday, September 7th: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Sunday, September 8th: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The PDF ticket for the evening party can be exchanged for a wristband in advance at Sorsapuisto on Sat 7th till 6:00 PM, or at the evening party venue between 7:00 PM and 12:00 AM.

The cloakroom inside Tampere Hall will be available according to the event’s opening hours and is free of charge.

The Lord of the Rings x Tracon

Tampere Hall and Tampere Theatre will present a grand production of The Lord of the Rings play!

One of the performances is scheduled for Tracon’s Friday evening. The stage of the Main Hall will come alive with beloved fantasy characters and epic adventures in a way never before seen!

Special ticket packages will be available for Tracon’s Friday, September 6. These packages include a ticket to the play as well as entry to Tracon for either Friday or the entire weekend. Please note that the theater package (theater + Tracon ticket) will be sold exclusively through Tampereen Teatteri’s ticket sales.

Prices vary depending on seating:

  • Theater ticket + Friday pass: €84/€94/€104
  • Theater ticket + weekend pass: €109/€119/€129

Theater tickets will be exchanged for wristbands by Tampere Hall. Further details on the ticket exchange process will be published later. Please note that the stage play will be in Finnish.

Arrival, public transportation (Nysse app)

Although the legendary con shuttle bus won’t be running this year, there’s no need to worry! Tampere’s public transportation offers a more flexible option for getting around and managing your schedule.

To navigate public transportation, you can download the Nysse app on your phone. The app allows you to purchase tickets, such as a day pass, covering buses and trams. It also includes a route planner. Please note that public transport may not accept cash payments. The nearest bus route to Tampere Hall is line 2, which runs from Särkänniemi to Rauhaniemi, passing through Keskustori and the Bus Station. The nearest tram stops to Tampere Hall are Tulli and Sammonaukio.

Parking

There are paid parking spaces nearby at P-Tullintori, P-Tampere-talo, and P-Hämppi.

The nearest parking garage, P Tampere-talo, is located about 150 meters from Tampere Hall, with an entrance on Åkerlundinkatu. P Tullintori has entrances on Åkerlundinkatu and Pinninkatu. All parking garages are paid.

Additional parking for Tampere Hall is available at the Sairaalankatu parking area, located across Kalevantie, with approximately 300 parking spaces. Parking in this area is paid from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, with a maximum parking time of 4 hours. The parking area is about 100 meters from Tampere Hall. The parking area on Tampere Hall’s grounds is reserved exclusively for staff and event organizers.
